Will you take up the Challenge?

Information for Students

You will need to have consent from your Parent/Carer and you can download the permission form here.

You will be given details about your User name and password for the challenge to be able to complete your online reading record on the Challenge website during library lessons or from home.

How many books will l need to read?
  • Prep - Grade 2 will need to read or experience 30 books, 20 of these need to be from the Challenge booklist.
  • Grades 3 - 6 will need to read 15 books, 10 of these need to be from the Challenge booklist.

The Reading Challenge and the library
Once you have registered you can begin borrowing and reading books for the challenge. The library has over 1,000 books including copies housed in the library and ready for borrowing. In 2006 the decision to include books from the Year 7-9 Challenge list was taken. The books listed on the Challenge list in the library are easily identifiable:

Red for Years Prep-2; Green for Years 3-4; Purple for Years 5-6 and Blue for Years 7-9.

You may notice some titles will have multiple coloured Reading Challenge Stickers. Some books cross 1 or 2 Challenge lists such as Prep-2 and Years 5 and 6. As long as a title has your year level coloured sticker you will be able to include it on your list.

The Metamarc Catalogue has details of all books in the Challenge list and you can click on your Year level/levels colour below.

    Prep-2 Years 3 and 4
    Years 5 and 6 Years 7, 8 and 9
  • Students may print a Reading record from the Challenge website in order to keep track of your reading. As we are a sustainable school, please keep these in a safe place, such as your library bag as the library will not provide extra copies for you if you lose them, it is your responsibility.

Once you have completed reading your required number of books let your teacher, Karen or Kerri know so that your record can be approved on the Challenge website. The library staff are currently working on a display board for those students who have finished the challenge and your name will be posted on this webpage.

If you need any further details please do not hesitate to ask either Karen or Kerri for any information.

    Good Luck!
